Committed to improving the literacy levels of its primary grade education sector, the Government of Mozambique has launched an extensive reading initiative. An essential part of this is the Vamos Ler! (Let’s Read!) Program (USAID Contract No AID-OAA-I-14-00052, Task Order AID-656-TO-16-00003). Implemented by Creative Associates International, the project is working with government partners to develop instructional tools, activities, and materials aimed at improving early grade literacy.
BurdaEducation has been selected to print 134 educational titles and a total of 4 million books in Mozambican languages for the first, second, and third grades. In addition, BurdaEducation will be responsible for various other critical aspects: 1) sorting these educational materials for shipping according to provinces, districts, and schools;
2) colour-coded packaging and labelling and ensuring that the books are protected from natural elements, such as rain and dust; and 3) the transportation and timely delivery of these books to designated warehouses in Mozambique.
BurdaEducation’s role in achieving the goals of the Vamos Ler! Program underlines our commitment to collaborating with committed partners to eradicate illiteracy, and provide learning opportunities for vulnerable children.
